What to do about Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson
I think that I agree in principle as a christian with Falwell and Robertson but they say some bone headed things sometimes. I know they mean well. Recently its been reported that Robertson said that the leader of Venezuela should be assasinated. Otherwise he said that the leader would lead that country toward communism. I would think that someone of Robertson stature would not say something like this especially the fact that he has a law degree. Actually its a violation of international law to assasinate a foreign leader. This is primaily to protect the US president.

I agree with your comments. Also I think that this makes the rift between general society and evangelical christians even wider. Robertson should know that such inflammatory comments will only fuel secularists claims that christians are right wing extremists.
I think may be James Carvilles advise as a political strategists might actually work in this case. "Just because you believe it doesnt mean you have to say it" There are a lot of things that every human being thinks about but should not be said.
I agree, lookingforbalance, I would be surprised if John Paul II said we should assassinate someone. In fact, I would be shocked if JP II said anything at all.
