Are credit card companies partly to blame for consumer credit problems

I believe that part of the credit card debt problem can be attributed to credit card companies. They keeping pushing consumers to get more and more credit that they know that some consumers cannot afford then run to congress because they arent happy with greedy profits that they make. May be the credit card companies need to grow and take responsibility themselves. They promise everything under the sun so that consumer will sign for it then hide behind expensive lawyers because no body except a high priced lawyer is going to be able to understand the contract anyways. They write in clauses, exceptions and exclusions that they know the consumer wont read or understand. Its normally called predatory practice in any other business.
